Cape Cod Baseball League Kickoff
On June 15th, we kick off the start of the Cape Cod Baseball League (CCBL) 2024 season. Since its founding in 1923, the CCBL is the premier collegiate summer baseball league in the nation. Players are recruited from colleges across the United States to come play for one of the ten teams the league has to offer.
The 10 teams include:
- Bourne Braves
- Brewster Whitecaps
- Chatham Anglers
- Cotuit Kettleers
- Falmouth Commodores
- Harwich Mariners
- Hyannis Harbor Hawks
- Orleans Firebirds
- Wareham Gatemen
- Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox
The Cape Cod Baseball League has a reputation as a starting place for future Major League Baseball stars. Alumni include Hall of Famers like Carlton Fisk and Frank Thomas, as well as recent stars such as Chris Sale and Aaron Judge. Since opening day in 2007, one out of every seven MLB players came out of the Cape Cod Baseball League.
The season consists of 44 regular season games lasting from June 15th to August 4th and then a post season quarterfinal, semifinal and championship series.
